He started in the restaurant industry washing dishes at the age of 16 at a local seafood restaurant in his hometown of Newfoundland, NJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, he has worked in every discipline of the food service industry, from the front of the house to the back and has worked &amp; consulted to major hotel companies, such as the Plaza &amp; Starwood Hotel Corporation, to esteemed restaurant groups like Smith &amp; Wollensky, Fireman Restaurant Group and Joe Baum, to legendary restaurants such as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/richardzampella.tumblr.com\/post\/73014034411\/richard-zampella-pictured-in-the-rainbow-room-for\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rainbow Room<\/a>, Le Cirque and the Oyster Bar at Grand Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He created\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skipperdees.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Skipperdee\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0in 2010, and has been quoted to say,\u00a0<em>\u201cThe food service industry gets into your blood; walk into any restaurant kitchen in the world at 8 o\u2019clock on a Saturday night and you will feel right at home\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a business owner in the hamlet of Point Lookout, NY he places a special emphasis on community service and served as past President of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pointlookoutcommerce.com\/richardzampella.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Point Lookout NY Chamber of Commerce<\/a>\u00a0and sits on the executive board of the Point Lookout Historical Society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard\u00a0Zampella\u00a0is the owner and proprietor of Skipperdee\u2019s Ice Cream Parlor located in Point Lookout, NY.
